City of Baça

5th Post

Hello everyone, I hope you have enjoyed the previous blog post and learned a great deal of the city of Barcelona.

In this Post, I will be discussing other tourist attractions which you can visit.  One of Barcelona’s famous food market which is called Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, which is known as in Barcelona as La Boqueria.  This is the largest public market in the Ciudad Viejadistrcit of Barcelona.  If you enjoy good fresh quality food, then I highly recommend this place as I personally enjoyed the variety of foods served as the market has a very diverse selection of goods.

Another famous and well known area to visit is La Rambla, this is the central street of Barcelona, it’s very popular for tourists and locals.  A reason to visist La Rambla, is the sight-seeing, as there is a tree-lined pedestrian mall, this mall stretches for 1.2kilometres (0.75 mi) connecting plaça de Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell.  However, La Rambla can be very crowded, especially during the summer season, and currently this street is constantly crowded by the protesting for the independence for Catalonia.

If you are into racing sports such as Formula 1, then I recommend that you visit the F1 track as It’s such a great experience. The famous track is called Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, this track has the longest straights and a variety of corners as the track is seen as an all-rounder circuit and the track capacity holds 140,700 which displays a great atmosphere.  Along this, you will be able to walk and cycle around the track every Wednesday between 9am – 5pm.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog posts in the last month, I hope you have learned and deiced to visit the wonderful city of Barcelona.

Barcelona the home of sport

Part 4 –

Hello again, this blog will be focused on sports within Barcelona and why it’s so famous all over the world.  These places which will be discussed in this post are places which I have visited.

Barcelona Football Club, was founded on 29 November 1899 by Joan Gamper, it is the second most valuable sports team in the world, worth $3.56 billion and the world’s second richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €560.8 million.  Barcelona has over 200 million fans worldwide, which is also one of the top 3 most supported clubs in the world. The Famous home of Barcelona, the Camp Nou stadium which holds 99,358 seats, which makes this the biggest stadium in Europe.

The Camp Nou stadium is available to visit by their stadium tour, if you decide to visit the stadium I highly recommend it that's attending a game or tour, even if you’re not a football fanatic I can guarantee you’ll have an amazing experience visiting the stadium.  Another reason to visit the tour is that the price is fantastic which is only at 32 euros for adults and children under 16 is only 20 euros. Also with the tour you will get to see all the trophies which the club has won and greatest achievements which their players have also one. You will also get to see Lionel Messi five Ballon d'or winnings, this award is given to the best footballer of the year.  By visiting the tour I was able to see and touch this award and was able to meet some of Barcelona great legends.

Also Barcelona is very well-known by their basketball team, this was founded on 24 August 1926 but wasn’t until 1930 the basketball team became well established in Catalonia. I would also recommend going to these games as Barcelona always put on a great performance as they are the best in the leagues in both football and basketball.

Adventures of Barcelona

Part 3

Hello again, hope you have enjoyed the previous blogs that have been posted.  Hopefully by now you would know how to travel around the city of Barcelona, and now I am going to suggest places to visit which I have experienced myself and enjoyed and also worth the money.

The first place I am going to mention is the the Basílica/Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família Barcelona. The Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona, the church is such a huge size, so they often referred it as cathedral.  The church has been going through construction since 1883 and predicted to finish by 2026.  However I recommend giving yourself a lot of time for examining the details of the facades, where many embassies and biblical stories are hidden.  The great thing is that prices are set a reasonable price only at 15 euros and can be bought at the venue and online.

Another place I would recommend is the Montjuic cable car, if you want enjoy a breath-taking view of the city and the sea from the castle. The price is only set at 11 euros which is great affordable price, and this is ideal with a family size of eight people this is the perfect way to enjoy Barcelona's green lung with friends and family.  It includes beautiful panoramic views from the castle where you'll be able to view the sea like the Iberians did.  Also discover the history of Mount Jupiter and find out about the development of the fort which stands more than 170 metres above sea level right by the port.

Barcelona’s famous water park, the Illa Fantasia water park has over 20 different water slides and 3 large swimming pools. The park has water activities for any age group including the tiny tots. For the little ones the park has the Splash n Slide activities that are safe for the younger members of your family.  The park has it’s own hotels and restaurants, also it is set at a great price of 40 euros and is only 16 miles from La Rambla.
